ALAMO — Mrs. Helen Marie Pickett, 66, was pronounced dead on arrival at Culver Hospital Thursday morning after she was rushed to the hospital from her home in Alamo at 7 a.m. after becoming ill. Mrs. Pickett was born in Ripley Township near Alamo on April 14, 1899, the daughter of James and Cornelia Tucker Stonebraker. She was married to Gilbert Pickett of Alamo in 1917. He preceded her in death in 1948. She was a member of the Alamo Christian Church and the Alamo Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. Survivors include a son, William L. Pickett of Rt. 3, Crawfordsville; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Evelyn Strain of Alamo, Mrs. Wandalene Petry of Rt. 1, Waveland, and Mrs. Ilene Elliott of Rt. 4, Crawfordsville, and 10 grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Delta Smith of Alamo, and a brother, Lex Stonebraker of Crawfordsville. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown. Rev. John R. Servies will officiate. Burial will be in the Alamo Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Saturday.
